“We pride ourselves on our culture of high expectation for every student and are committed to cultivating a happy, disciplined, caring and respectful environment. Pupils have access to academic and vocational qualifications as well as a wide range of curricular and enrichment / extra-curricular activities. Our aim is to help them become well rounded adults who are empowered to contribute positively to their local and global community. The Academy is also a centre of excellence specialising in enterprise.

We have created a learning environment where hard work, motivation and determination help to prepare our students for their future lives in an ever changing world. Our Academy will be a beacon of excellence at the heart of the community we serve. Our aim is to provide a highly disciplined, vibrant and safe environment where every pupil can flourish regardless of their ability or background.

If you would like to know more about the Academy, or are considering applying for a place, please come to one of our open events or contact us if you would like further information or have any queries.”

The Skinners’ Company has a long tradition of supporting education. Its educational involvement in Hackney started in 1890. We have continued with Skinners’ Academy which is part of a family of seven schools supported by the company. We believe in traditional educational values delivered in a modern context; and are enthusiastic about the integral role the Academy plays in the evolving Woodberry Down community.

I am delighted to introduce myself and commend this prospectus on behalf of the Governing Body of Skinners’ Academy. I come to the post following Robert Farquharson’s 5 year tenure as Chair, during which the Academy has grown in stature and reputation.

The orderly and purposeful atmosphere in the Academy fully engages our young people and enables them to achieve their potential at GCSE. The dynamic sixth form offers a wide range of A-levels and a growing number of vocational qualifications, thereby helping our leavers establish themselves in the best universities, colleges and employment.

Our determination to see all our pupils succeed is matched by our desire to give them life-changing opportunities in the arts, outdoor activities and enterprise so that we can send out mature young men and women ready to take their place in a complex and exciting world.
