POLITICS
YEAR 12 STUDENT
Politics is a very interesting and fun subject, which complements nearly all of my subjects.
WHY STUDY POLITICS?
If you want to change the society we live in then Politics is the course for you. Politics affects everything in our daily lives, from how much you earn to what you can buy in the shop. In A Level Politics you will learn how political systems in the UK and USA work, and will be able to evaluate their effectiveness. You will also learn the answers to important questions such as:
-
What is democracy and how democratic is the UK?
-
How can I participate meaningfully in politics?
-
Does my vote count?
-
How powerful is the media?
-
Should the UK introduce a written constitution in line with other liberal democracies?
-
How does our parliament function and is it effective at holding government to account?
-
Is the Prime Minister presidential or the ‘first amongst equals’?
-
Who are the key political thinkers that have shaped our world?
