The Governing Body is delighted to announce the appointment of Shereka James as the new Principal of Skinners’ Academy from August 2020.
Shereka is currently Deputy Head at Sir John Cass’s Foundation and Redcoat Church of England Secondary School and Sixth Form College in Tower Hamlets. She has had a significant impact on the development of teaching and learning, inclusion and diversity at the school and will bring wide-ranging strategic and people leadership experience to Skinners’. She has an inclusive educational philosophy and believes passionately in education as a vehicle for social mobility.
Shereka has a strong affiliation to London. She studied Biological Sciences & Psychology at the University of North London and has spent most of her career teaching and leading in challenging London boroughs. Shereka is an experienced Deputy Head and has served on the Senior Leadership Team of Capital City Academy, Bishop Stopford’s School and Sir John Cass’s Foundation and Redcoat Church of England Secondary School and Sixth Form College.

Shereka said: “I consider it a privilege to have been appointed by the school governors and entrusted with the job of leading Skinners' Academy. I’m passionate about ensuring our students receive the very best educational experience possible; preparing them for their next phase of education and learning. I’m very much looking forward to working with our team of very talented teachers to ensure that this happens for every child.”
