Further to previous messages, this is an update regarding ongoing planning for Coronavirus issues at the Academy.
As explained in our message on 16/03/2020, we were faced with a large number of staff absences and that more than 150 pupils were absent.
Staff absence has increased today and 290 pupils are absent – many of these from Years 9 and 10.
We have had to decide that from tomorrow (18/03/2020) all pupils in Years 9 and 10 will not be required to attend the Academy until further notice.
Work will be provided online for all pupils and they are able to communicate with their teachers by email and on Show My Homework (All pupils have been provided with user guides). A Year 9 and 10 Assembly was held this afternoon to explain what is happening, to give guidance about working online from home and how to keep in touch with the Academy and how we can keep in touch with them.
Any pupil unable to access the online material should contact their Head of Year by email or phone and arrange to collect the relevant workbooks as soon as possible.
We will keep you fully informed about developments and how plans might change in the future.
We apologise if this decision causes you problems or inconvenience but can assure you that it has been made in the best interests of the safety and wellbeing of all pupils in the Academy.
Please be aware that this is a fast-evolving situation and we will continue to update any new advice on this website. Please do contact the school if you have any specific queries that aren’t addressed elsewhere.
