YEAR 13 STUDENT

Studying A level Art and Design has enabled me to develop my research skills not only with the practical elements of a project but also through the written essay, this has really prepared me for university. You are really encouraged to take ownership of your project and to be independent, However the Art teachers are really supportive and will provide you with any help if you need it.

WHY STUDY ART, CRAFT & DESIGN?

By studying Art, Craft and Design at A level you will gain a greater cultural and social understanding of the world around you. Throughout this course you will learn and develop many skills that are transferable in the world of work, not only in the creative industries. This course has an emphasis on critical thinking, problem solving and independence. You will have the opportunity to explore a range of materials and techniques including (but not limited to) print making, painting, sculpture and ceramics.

COURSE CONTENT

During the Art A level you will be encouraged to explore your own creative pathway by establishing you own personal theme based on an area that you find interesting or are passionate about.  You will have opportunities to generate and develop ideas, research primary and contextual sources, record practical and written observations, experiment with media and processes, and refine ideas towards producing personal resolved outcomes. You will learn how to explore the world around you and use this to inspire and develop your creative practice.
