WHY STUDY FOOD SCIENCE & NUTRITION?
Studying Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition can lead to exciting and well-paid career options. Consumers are becoming increasingly reliant on the food industry to develop solutions for their nutritional needs. This course could lead to roles such as Chefs, Food Product Developers, Buyers (who travel the world sourcing new food products for manufacturers), Food Safety Inspectors, Nutritionists, Dieticians, Quality Managers, Teachers, Food Engineers, Food Scientists, Hotel and Restaurant Managers, Environmental Health Officers and Food Critic.

COURSE CONTENT
Three units must be completed over the two-year programme.
Compulsory Units:
Unit 1 : Meeting Nutritional Needs of Specific Groups
Unit 2 : Ensuring Food is Safe to Eat

Unit 3 : Experimenting to Solve Food Production Problems
Unit 4 : Current Issues in Food Science and Nutrition

This is an Applied General qualification. This means it is designed primarily to support learners progressing to university. It has been designed to offer exciting, interesting experiences that focus learning for 16 - 19 year-old learners through applied learning, i.e. through the acquisition of knowledge and understanding in purposeful, work-related contexts, linked to the food production industry
