MEDIA STUDIES

YEAR 12 STUDENT

Media Studies has helped me develop my creative skills using Photoshop and Video editing software to create Short Film, websites and magazine content. I have enjoyed debates on current topics and analysing film and TV theory

WHY STUDY MEDIA?

If you are always consuming media products (films, television shows, newspapers, magazines, social media, YouTube, general websites) and are fascinated with the processes in which these types of products are created then this course is perfect for you. You will get the unparalleled opportunity to learn how the world is manipulated, engage with things that are essential to your day-to-day living and express yourself creatively.

Furthermore, there are thousands of aspects in the creative process when producing a media text; so finding something that you are interested in would not be difficult. This is balanced with a deeply theoretical aspect of the course that opens your eyes to how the world you live in is sliced up, packaged and beautified before being presented back to you.

Media Studies A Level is increasingly highly regarded by universities and employers as it gives you access to creative analytical skills not found in many other subjects. It teaches you how to analyse texts, construct arguments, debate and decide on what you think.
