Students at Skinners’ Academy excitedly discussed next steps as results were opened and their path beyond their time in the sixth form became clearer.
Unique among sixth forms in Hackney, Skinners’ Academy allows students to enjoy a mixed provision of A-Levels and BTECs and some of the many successes this year included
Muzna K and Ozge P who achieved triple distinction stars in their Business Studies BTEC and are progressing to study Law at Brunel University and Queen Mary University of London, respectively.
Selver T – who achieved also achieved triple distinction stars in her Business Studies BTEC as well as a B in A-Level Art and will study Fine Art Mixed Media at the University of Westminster.
Sumeya A and Sawdah P – who both achieved triple distinction stars in their Health & Social Care BTEC and will move on to study children’s nursing at Kings College London and Helin G who achieved the same and will shortly begin a degree course in social work at Middlesex University.
Tanvir MH – who achieved A, A, A, B in Biology, Maths, Physics and Chemistry and will be attending Queen Mary University of London to read Aerospace Engineering.
Zack D – who achieved A, A, B in Business Studies, History & Government & Politics and will read Philosophy at the University of Manchester
Tajai B – who achieved an A in Art & Design A-Level and two distinction stars in her Health & Social Care BTEC and will be studying children’s nursing at Middlesex University.
Dylan B – who achieved B, B, B, B in Art & Design, English Literature, Media Studies and Psychology and will be studying filmmaking at Leeds Arts University
University remained the most popular destination for our students with one fifth of the cohort accepting places at Russell Group Universities including Kings College London and Queen Mary University of London with higher education institutions including the University of Manchester, University of Essex, Nottingham Trent, Goldsmiths, University of London and more.

“I can now actually say that I am going to study Midwifery at Kings College University. All I can say is that I am really glad that I chose Skinners’ Academy as my support system throughout these years. In 2014 I hardly knew English, now in 2019 I am an aspiring Midwife. I can never thank all the staff enough for all the hard work they put in for me and all of my colleagues. Now I’m sure I’m ready to go and be the best that I can be.”
Selver Toygun, the Academy’s highest UCAS points achiever, shared that...
“Being a part of Skinners’ Academy for 7 years has allowed me to gain the support and teaching from amazing teachers and staff that have dedicated their time to help me achieve my goal. Attending Skinners’ Academy has allowed me to gain the foundation of being a better individual. They built a platform that allowed me to aim high and achieve my best and I am excited to be starting university and studying Fine Art Mixed Media from this Autumn.”
