This year three out of our four basketball teams made it to the semi-finals of the Jr.NBA league for the first time in Skinners’ Academy history!
Year 7 boys finished in 2nd place in the Overall League. They made it to the semi-final of the Jr.NBA but unfortunately lost.
Year 8 girls finished in 3rd place in the Overall League. They also made it to the semi-final of the Jr.NBA but unfortunately lost.
Year 8 boys finished in 6th place in the Overall League which meant they couldn’t proceed onto the Jr.NBA league.
All hopes lay on the Year 7 girls’ team who finished 1st in the Overall League. Could they be our first team to medal at the Jr.NBA?! They made it to the semifinal of the Jr.NBA where they played Riverside, THEY WON! Becoming our first team to make it to a Jr.NBA FINAL where they would represent Hackney! The finals were held on 23 June, our Year 7 girls’ team played extremely well and came 3rd! earning a bronze medal, the first ever medal won by Skinners’ Academy in the Jr. NBA.
Congratulations to our Year 7 girls’ team and well done to all our other teams. Special shout out to our team coaches Mr Williams & Ms Antwi who have given so much of their time to coach and support the teams.
We are excited to see what next year will bring.
