Welcome to Skinners’ Academy

Welcome to Skinners’ Academy, a school in the Woodberry Down (North Hackney) community for boys and girls aged 11–19, providing a world class education in a state-of-the-art building. Opened in 2010, the Academy is supported by the Skinners’ Company, who are looking forward, with great enthusiasm, to their Academy becoming the heart and the hub of the local community.

Skinners’ is an awesome place to teach because the students want to learn. They are buzzing with questions… they really make me work! The class sizes are small enough so that I feel I can give everyone individual attention every lesson. The behaviour is so good that I feel I can teach properly, with challenging content in exciting ways.

Ms Deborah Syme, Head of Geography

What I enjoy about Skinners’ Academy is that wherever you turn, teachers will always be there to help you learn and succeed in school and in the future by teaching you skills you might need. This benefits me by making me feel that I’ll have the best chance in life and I will be able to fulfil my maximum potential.

Skinners’ Academy is a great place to work because we are led by a fantastic Principal, whose main aim is to ensure that our teachers be able to teach. Positive feedback from my colleagues and parents of our pupils, just goes to show that his methods work and I am proud to be a part of the team that supports this goal.

Danushki Ranasinghe, PA to the Principal

The best thing about Skinners’ Academy is its background. Because Skinners’ has a long history, since 1327, it makes us stand out from other academies.
