Skinners’ Academy is proud to be part of a centuries-old legacy through its close partnership with The Skinners’ Company - a historic institution with a thoroughly modern purpose. Founded over 700 years ago, The Skinners’ Company has evolved from its traditional roots into a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to education, opportunity, and community impact.

Today, this commitment is brought to life through the Skinners’ Charity Foundation (SCF), which continues to invest in young people and their futures. In 2024/25 alone, the Foundation reached new heights - awarding more grants than ever before and supporting initiatives across vocational development, poverty relief, arts and heritage, and bursaries at three London universities. The scale of this support is reflected in 324 volunteering hours given, £147,505 donated, and the generosity of 85 member donors.

At Skinners’ Academy, this partnership has a direct and meaningful impact. Through the Skinners’ Educational Foundation (SEF), Equal Access grants are provided each year to ensure that every student can fully participate in school life, regardless of background. With 63% of our students eligible for free school meals - significantly above the national average - this support is vital.

These grants help fund essential school uniforms for those experiencing financial hardship. They also subsidise enriching experiences such as Activities Week, where students can take part in trips and hands-on learning opportunities - from visits to Southend’s Adventure Island, Go-Karting, Kayaking, Tocca Social and much more - without financial barriers. This year, the Equal Access grant has also contributed to funding new indoor multi-gym equipment, creating a lasting resource that will benefit current students and future generations alike.

The Skinners’ Company’s enduring heritage is matched by its commitment to shaping brighter futures today - making it an invaluable part of the Skinners’ Academy community.
