A Weekend In Paris
Back
Last week, 38 students from Years 9 and 10 set off on the Eurostar to Paris for a French language–enhancing trip. Despite the gloomy weather, spirits stayed high as students embraced French culture and practised their language skills in real-life situations.
A highlight of the trip was the spectacular view from the Tour Montparnasse, where students enjoyed a panoramic look over the city. They also took in the beauty of Paris from the water during a rather soggy River Seine boat cruise, sailing past iconic sights including the Eiffel Tower. Another favourite stop was the Choco Story Museum, where students explored the history of chocolate and enjoyed some delicious samples.
Year 10 student Kayra shared her thoughts on the visit:
“My experience in Paris was unforgettable. We saw many places like the Louvre and the Cathedral of Sacré Coeur. I loved seeing different sites and experiencing new things. It was quite scary at first since it was my first time out of the country without my family, so I felt a bit homesick. However, it felt better afterwards after seeing how many others were having fun! My favourite parts were seeing different places at night and seeing and feeding ducks, that was really fun.”
Year 10 student Michael also reflected on the trip:
“I also got to learn new knowledge about a new country along with getting to know French culture. In addition, I got to know other people in my year group and also the year below.”
Staff were particularly delighted by the students’ reactions upon seeing the iconic Mona Lisa at the Louvre. For many, the moment of standing before one of the world’s most famous paintings brought genuine excitement and awe, adding an unforgettable highlight to an already enriching cultural experience.
