Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition

Congratulations to our outstanding Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award participants, who have successfully completed their assessed four-day, three-night expedition in the spectacular Brecon Beacons, Wales.

Following a challenging practice expedition in March, where students faced wet, windy and even snowy conditions, the team was rewarded with glorious sunshine throughout their final assessed expedition. While the weather was kinder, the challenge remained significant. Over four demanding days, students navigated and trekked independently across the mountains, walking between eight and ten hours each day while carrying full backpacks, cooking their own meals and camping overnight.

Completing the Gold expedition is a tremendous achievement and represents months of preparation, perseverance and commitment. Throughout the expedition, this exceptional group demonstrated remarkable resilience, teamwork, leadership and determination, supporting one another through every high and low. Their positive attitude and team spirit were particularly impressive and exemplified the values of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

To celebrate their achievement, staff gathered to welcome the students home with a well-deserved guard of honour, recognising the incredible effort and determination required to complete one of the most demanding sections of the Gold Award.

A huge thank you also goes to the dedicated staff team who made this experience possible. Their encouragement, expertise and unwavering support throughout the expedition played a vital role in helping every student reach the finish line. We are incredibly grateful for everything they do to provide such life-changing opportunities for our students.
